October 2009 STEM related EVENTS

STEM Equity Pipeline Pilot Project
Date: Oct 13th,2009
Location: Lakeshore Technical College (LTC)
Contact: Karen.showers@wtcsystem.edu

A pilot project is being conducted in the Lakeshore Technical College(LTC) District cooperatively between Sheboygan North and South High Schools, Plymouth High School, the Manitowoc School District and LTC to examine data, course taking patterns and more to identify potential root causes for low participation of girls in STEM and STEM-related programs at the secondary and post-secondary levels. These schools/districts and technical college are building on relationships established as a result of past experience conducting and supporting career exploration activities. This multi-year project, with a more intense year-long commitment, will impact future strategies, school-based or school/community-based, to support students in STEM career choices. The participants' experience with a five-step improvement process brings together data analysis to inform future instructional and service delivery.
