PBS TeacherLine offers more than 130 graduate level facilitated, online courses for teachers that
span the entire curriculum: Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, Instructional Technology,
Instructional Strategies, and Science.
We are pleased to announce a new course from WGBH Teachers’ Domain, SCIE570: "Introduction to Biotechnology". This course is open for fall enrollment and is available to TeacherLine stations to offer as a local course. We will share an overview and demonstration of the course on the September 30 station call. You may also view the course content using the TL course preview account (login information is posted on TL Admin > Courses).
SCIE570 is a graduate level, six session, 30-hour experience. The course will increase the learners' awareness and understanding of biotechnology while also focusing on teaching strategies and the use of media in teaching biotechnology concepts effectively at the high school level (grades 9-12). Learners explore the basic concepts of biotechnology, examine the common tools and techniques of biotechnology, and learn how to incorporate biotechnology into the classroom to increase students' awareness of the industry and career opportunities.
